Valentino-Braitenberg-Award for Prof. Wulfram Gerstner

    Prof. Wulfram Gerstner is the recipient of the Valentino-Braitenberg Award for Computational Neuroscience 2018.

    The physicist leads the Laboratory of Computational Neuroscience at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Within HBP he is developing models to understand the role of plasticity in learning for neuronal populations and network of neurons using biophysical synapse models. The work is part of HBP´s research area Theoretical Neuroscience. Prof. Gerstner will receive the award during the yearly Bernstein Conference for Computitional Neuroscience in Berlin on September 26. Following the award ceremony, he will deliver the Valentino Braitenberg Lecture.

    The award honors the impact of the recipient’s research on the neurosciences, with special emphasis on theoretical studies elucidating the functional implications of brain structures and their neuronal network dynamics. Read the detailed press release of the Bernstein Network here:
