Scientific Alignment Meeting in Alpbach, Austria

From May 7-9, 2018, the Human Brain Project (HBP) held a meeting of representatives from all of its research areas in Alpbach, Austria, to discuss the alignment of HBP science and technology with respect to developments outside the project. Speakers presented their own research progress and gave overviews of their respective fields.
The meeting provided a valuable assessment of the chances, competitiveness and uniqueness of the HBP with regards to current developments like the strong increase in AI research and application during the last years, as well as in view of other brain initiatives, developments in brain imaging, data science, medicine, computing and other relevant fields. The talks and the discussions served as guidance for the way forward to maximize research success and impact.
