Researchers in the Human Brain Project work on a new solution for sensitive medical data

Scientists from Heidelberg and Bern have succeeded in training spiking neural networks to solve complex tasks with extreme energy efficiency. The advance was enabled by the BrainScaleS-2 neuromorphic platform, which can be accessed online as part of the EBRAINS research infrastructure.

Two proposals answering the Human Brain Project’s (HBP) calls for expression of interest (CEol) on “COVID-19 and its impact on brain and mental health” have been selected for European Commission (EC) funding totaling nearly EUR 450 000. The sum will be divided between the two projects.
