On 28-29 July 2021, EBRAINS alongside the International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO) and the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) had the pleasure to host the First Virtual Master Class focusing on Brain Atlasing and Simulation Services - available on the EBRAINS digital research infrastructure.

A collaborative effort organised under the umbrella of International Brain Initiative, this involved training international senior researchers on the various EBRAINS tools and services.

Tools and objectives

For the first edition, researchers from renowned institutions in Asia-Pacific region joined the expert-led plenary sessions as well as six practical hands-on tutorials. This “train-the-trainer” event format showcased the following tools:

• NEURON
• Arbor
• NEST Desktop
• The Virtual Brain
• Brain atlases
• Elephant

The aim is for such tools to be used in participants’ own research work and for the acquired knowledge to be shared with their students.

Most sessions were also recorded and will be shared on the HBP Education E-Library as well as the INCF Training Space for future reference.

Next event registration

The next Virtual Master Class will already take place on 2-3 September, in collaboration with IBRO and as part of the INCF Training Week, especially addressing researchers from Africa.
